Critical aspects for assessment and evidence required to demonstrate competency in this unit | Evidence of the following is essential: ability to sort, wash, dry, store and maintain linen supplies for use in funeral workplaces using the correct washing and drying programs for load weight and classification maintaining multiple types of linen supplies over a period of time to ensure consistency of performance and ability to respond to different situations. |
Context of and specific resources for assessment | Assessment must ensure: demonstration of skills in a laundry facility where linen can be sorted, washed, dried, stored and maintained access to a range of mortuary linen supplies access to washing machines and dryers. |
Methods of assessment | A range of assessment methods should be used to assess practical skills and knowledge. The following examples are appropriate for this unit: observation of candidate sorting, washing, drying, storing and maintaining linen according to workplace policies and procedures and manufacturer instructions for equipment use written or verbal questioning to assess knowledge of safe operation of machinery and fault reporting procedures review of portfolios of evidence and third-party workplace reports of on-the-job performance by the candidate.
